Body Piercing

EAR & BODY PIERCING

At Shell's Health & Beauty we are now offering body piercing! This includes ears, nose, brow, lip, nipple and belly button piercing.

As we are a Skin Clinic we pride ourselves on both client satisfaction and high standard of safety.

We only use medical grade titanium body jewellery for all initial body piercings and single use sterile piercing needles, sterile tools and jewellery. Single use needles make for a less painful, more precise piercing.

We only use the safest and highest quality jewellery, ensuring your confidence and total peace of mind. We only pierce with our Autoclave Sterile Titanium Jewellery.

How old do I need to be to get pierced:

If you are under 16: You can be pierced on any part of the ear or body (excluding nipple and genital piercings) with a parent present on the day to provide their Photo Identification and a Medicare card with both the child and parent name on the card.

If you are over 16, but under 18: You can have anywhere on your ear pierced, including lobes, helix, conch, tragus etc., if you provide your Photo Identification.

Legal guardians can also provide consent:

The legal guardian needs to produce a guardianship order/court order together with an ID of the child (birth certificate or passport) to confirm the child’s name is the same child named in the guardianship order. The legal guardian needs to also provide their Photo Identification to confirm they are the nominated legal guardian named on the guardianship order/court order.

Things you need to know before getting pierced

All our Piercings are by appointment only. A consent form and Photo ID must be filled out and shown prior to treatment.

48 hours prior:

Do not take blood thinning medications such as Aspirin or Advil.

On the day:

Make sure you are hydrated and have eaten a meal. Low blood sugar could cause you to feel faint.

Do not drink alcohol, take elicit substances or consume caffeine (coffee, energy drinks).

Your experience:

Your Piercing Specialist is there to help you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout your experience. Our experienced staff will help you choose jewellery from our extensive range. Our staff will also discuss the position of your piercing with you and mark the location of the piercing to ensure that you’re happy with its placement.

Safety and Hygiene:

Every Essential Beauty piercing is performed in a sterile and hygienic environment. Our salons undertake regular health inspections and are compliant with Government legislation regarding skin penetration. All piercing needles and disposable equipment are of single use, and all other equipment and body jewellery is autoclave sterilised prior to use.

How many piercings can I get in one session?

It is not uncommon to have multiple piercings performed on the same day. We recommend not getting more than four piercings in one session, especially if you’re getting them on the same ear. Getting multiple piercings can also cause increased swelling during healing and can prolong healing time.

Be mindful of getting cartilage piercings on both ears at the same time, as it can be difficult to sleep.

Handy tip: Sleeping on your back is ideal, but you can also use a U-shaped travel neck pillow so that you can sleep on your side if you’re strictly a side-sleeper!

Is jewellery included in the price of the piercing?

All piercing prices include high polish implant grade Titanium jewellery from our standard design range. Jewellery upgrades are available.

We strictly pierce with our autoclave sterilised jewellery.

When can I change my jewellery after getting pierced?

You can change your jewellery after the recommended healing time has passed, and you feel that your piercing has fully healed. If you are unsure, pop into our clinic and chat with Shell. Changing your own body jewellery can be tricky. If you purchase jewellery in salon, we are happy to change it over for you at no cost!

How long will my piercing take to heal?

Healing time is different depending on the part of your body that you get pierced. Areas that are softer, with no cartilage, such as ear lobes, will heal faster than other areas. Healing times can vary from person to person, and will also depend on how well you follow our recommended aftercare instructions.

Ear lobes, Tongue: 1 – 2 months

Ear Cartilage (helix, daith, rook, snug, conch, tragus): 6 – 12 months

Belly/ Navel: 6 – 12 months

Eyebrow, Nose, Lip/ Labret, Dermal Anchor/ Skin Diver: 2 – 4 months

Septum: 3 – 4 months

Monroe/ Cheek: 3 – 5 months

Nipple: 4 – 6 months

After the times listed above, you may be able to remove your jewellery for a short time. However, your piercing may begin to shrink. We cannot give you an exact time for how long you can remove your jewellery before it becomes difficult to reinsert. This varies between people.

Just remember – never force jewellery into a piercing that has shrunk.
