Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Not Just A Massage!

A Lymphatic Drainage Massage is an effective and proven treatment to help reduce the symptoms of digestive problems, hormonal imbalance, fluid retention, surgery recovery time and kickstart a healthier body.

Factors such as change of routine, emotional stress, infection, exercise and diet can all trigger blockages in the Lymph flow. The manual process of Lymphatic Massage helps to have your Lymphatic System back up and running as it should be.

Lymph massage can benefit everyone!

TREATMENT OVERVIEW

The Lymphatic system’s main function is to move substances that fight infections around your body and face while pumping toxins out, just like the circulatory system. But unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have its own pump, like the heart. This leads to a buildup of lymphatic fluid across the face and body. In comes Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage massage which works a bit like a vacuum, lightly pushing lymph fluid through the lymphatic vessel system, leaving your face feeling brighter and lighter, and your body more sculpted and detoxed.

For those not familiar with lymphatic drainage, the massage technique has long been used to encourage a healthy lymph flow. It uses light pressure and long, rhythmic strokes to promote circulation and get stagnated lymph fluid and toxins moving so they can be properly eliminated. Stress, unbalanced hormones, diet, pollution, sedentariness, and illnesses are responsible for lymph stagnation.

Lymphatic drainage circulates immune cells through your body and increases the absorption and transportation of excess fluid, which flushes toxins from your tissues, prevents inflammation and balances your nervous and digestive system.

The new Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a combination of lymphatic drainage, contouring (a combination of deeper strokes to releases the tissue, increase the metabolism and promote a contouring effect) and relaxation movements. The technique is light and flowing that feels gentle and rhythmic.

Our therapists use a Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage technique for instant body sculpting, improved fluid retention & cellulite, skin tone and vitality. The main aim is to achieve homeostasis, body balance, detoxification and enhance one’s beauty naturally. After your treatment you will feel instantly invigorated and lighter all over, with a noticeable improvement in skin tone, bloating and swelling.

This treatment is also very popular to fight cellulite caused by oedema, which is the accumulation of fluids in the deepest fat layers of the skin. It helps flush the liquid that is deposited between the cells and cannot move on their own, improving the appearance of the skin. The Sculpting Massage enhances body contours by improving circulation, reducing cellulite and localised fat and by increasing muscle firmness.

Recommended Treatment Plan

We recommend regular Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage treatments on their own, or alongside other detox regimes such as infrared sauna and float therapy. Lymphatic drainage is also really beneficial in conjunction with Shrinking Violet Body Wraps treatment to enhance the results. Besides the aesthetic effects that BLD has, regular sessions will help prevent the lymphatic system from becoming overloaded, which can lead to health problems down the road.

The key to obtain the best results and maintain a healthy lymphatic system is regularly stimulating it. To get the maximum sculpting, toning and vitality results from our Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage treatments, we recommend starting with three treatments, each no more than 10 days apart. This can then be followed by a maintenance plan of one treatment every one to two weeks or as required for an energy boost, to help kick-start a health plan or to sculpt before a big event.

Contraindications

  • There are very few instances where Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Body massage is not recommended, and these are called total contraindications. This includes being under the influence of alcohol, suffering from a cold/flu/fever, or have a contagious skin infection.

  • There are also ‘local contraindications’ which are conditions affecting specific areas of the body such as cuts, bruises or areas of injury; these areas will be avoided.

  • Severe medical conditions such as heart problems, respiratory issues, cancer, or epilepsy will require medical approval from your GP stating that you are safe to receive a massage.

How To Prepare For Your Treatment

  • Avoid heavy meals 1 hour before your booking, and ideally, fast or eat a light meal.

  • Be prepared to heavily hydrate after:”Drinking a lot of water after helps to keep your results for longer.

  • Avoid alcohol before your session, and avoid carbs, alcohol, and sugar after your session.

How You May Feel After Your Session

  • Don’t be surprised if you’re sore the following two days from the effect of the massage. It is common for your muscles to feel temporarily tired or heavy, like how they feel after a workout. You also might notice more mobility in certain muscles than you didn’t previously have.

  • A small number of clients receiving a massage feels light-headedness, achy, flu like, or complain of headache. This is due to all the toxins that have been released from your muscles and your whole body has been detoxified, but again—that can happen with any massage.

  • You’ll notice a pinkish tint to your skin that’s directly related to increased blood flow.

  • After your session, you may need to pee more. This happens because your lymph will be moving properly and may also start to feel thirsty. This is because the techniques used in the treatment releases fluids from your muscle tissues and into your vascular system. That means that you must restock all the water lost during your massage to keep your body’s tissues hydrated and healthy, and to maintain the benefits.

Aftercare

  • Taking care of the body after a BLD massage is a lot like taking care of the body before—continue drinking water and eating healthy, to make sure the results really stay and last as long as possible.
