Hot Stone Massage 60/90 mins

Hot Stone Massage is a holistic therapy treatment that is particularly effective at relaxing the whole body. Hot Stone Massage has endless benefits - among other things it causes deep muscle and body relaxation, alleviates pain, improves circulation, and releases endorphins which reduce stress and anxiety and leave you with a feeling of calm and wellbeing.

Benefits of massage

One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing.

Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.

Some of the physical benefits of massage include:

  • reduced muscle tension

  • improved circulation

  • stimulation of the lymphatic system

  • reduction of stress hormones

  • relaxation

  • increased joint mobility and flexibility

  • improved skin tone

  • improved recovery of soft tissue injuries

  • heightened mental alertness

  • reduced anxiety and depression.

Massage – special considerations

There are some instances where massage may not be recommended, or a GP or specialist referral should be obtained, including (but not limited to):

  • During pregnancy

  • if skin rashes, cuts or infections are present

  • if fractures or broken bones are suspected

  • if the person has a life threatening illness.
